The Price of Nobility: Who the Woman from the Bus Really Was

The couple finished their cigarettes and headed back into the hall, fortunately without noticing the hidden observer. But when Alexander approached the reserved table, he almost fainted from shock. It turned out that the people plotting a murder were his future mother-in-law and father-in-law. His beloved Ira immediately threw her arms around his neck and happily introduced her parents.

He smiled distractedly, muttered polite phrases, while frantically processing what he had heard. The family appeared outwardly friendly; his future mother-in-law even gave him a few compliments.

Ira’s father smiled broadly and seemed quite pleased with meeting his daughter’s fiancé. The girl herself looked like an innocent angel, sweetly embarrassed about the upcoming wedding.

Alexander didn’t show it, got a grip on himself, and started joking as if nothing had happened. Together with his fiancée’s parents, they began to discuss the details of the celebration, and Ira’s dad took the initiative regarding the honeymoon.

He generously declared that they would pay for everything, and her mom suggested the young couple live in a new apartment first. Ira clapped her hands joyfully and whispered in the young man’s ear that she had told him her parents would like him.

If he hadn’t heard that conversation on the terrace, he would have been on cloud nine. But now, goosebumps ran down his spine as he imagined what was supposed to happen on that vacation. The next day, he and Ira went to the registry office to file their application.

Alexander tried to look cheerful, but inside he was seething with rage and fear.

He was amazed at how two-faced Ira turned out to be. But he was no simpleton, so he decided to prepare thoroughly for both the wedding and the “honeymoon.” After submitting the application, instead of celebrating at a restaurant, he told Ira he was going to a friend’s place. He lied that he wanted to have a bachelor party, which caused the girl to react with great enthusiasm…
