The Price of Nobility: Who the Woman from the Bus Really Was

When Alexander got on the bus, an argument was already underway. A tipsy passenger was persistently bothering a woman of Gypsy appearance. Judging by the loud shouts, the boorish lout was demanding that she tell him his future immediately. He claimed that all women of her people practiced magic and was shoving a banknote at her as payment.

The Gypsy woman didn’t react to his offensive remarks, but calmly repeated several times that she didn’t practice fortune-telling and he should leave his stereotypes behind. Her composure was truly iron-clad, which couldn’t be said for the other people in the crowded bus.

The passengers were noticeably nervous and indignant, but they were afraid to approach the aggressor as he was actively swinging his fists. Realizing he wouldn’t get what he wanted, the hooligan switched to direct insults and began making indecent proposals to the woman.

Alexander could no longer tolerate such blatant rudeness, so he decisively stood up for the defenseless passenger. Although he was smaller in build than the brawler, the young man had plenty of courage.

At first, a heated verbal altercation broke out, which quickly escalated into a chaotic scuffle between the two opponents. The situation was saved only by the intervention of the driver, who announced over the loudspeaker that he would call the police immediately.

The man instantly quieted down and, noticing he had missed his stop, hastily jumped off the bus. Alexander got off at the next stop to cool down, and the Gypsy woman followed him out. ..
