Shadow in the hallway: what the wife accidentally saw in the mirror

— Yes, when spring comes, the weather always seems good. And it’s all because we’re tired of the cold and snow.

— Perhaps you’re right. I’ve been meaning to ask. Why are you working as a cleaner? I heard Larisa offered you a position as an operator several times. The pay is better, and the work is cleaner.

— I would love to, but I can’t because of the schedule. I have a little daughter, and she’s sick. When everything is fine, a neighbor stays with her, but when she has a flare-up, I need to be by her side. That’s why Ivanovna and I work together. Thanks to her, she always accommodates me, we switch shifts when needed.

— I see. And what’s wrong with your daughter?

— Oh, don’t ask. None of the doctors have been able to figure it out. She has some kind of attacks, she can’t breathe. Panic and, well, a lot of things. And the doctors just throw up their hands. They say she needs a serious examination, but it’s not done for free. They said we should wait until she’s a teenager, and then, maybe, it will all go away on its own.

— Strange doctors, indeed. Well, hang in there, everything will be okay.

Tanya thanked him, and in the evening, she found out that Ivan Petrovich had given her a bonus. He didn’t say what for, he just gave it — and that was it. She hadn’t seen him since, but today he came to her home.

Tanya, frankly, almost fainted. First, when she saw him, and then — when she heard what he was offering her. And he was offering something…

Ivan Petrovich had a son, almost thirty years old, and for seven of those thirty years, he had been in a wheelchair. He was in an accident, and since then, no matter what the doctors did, he couldn’t stand up. Because of this, he fell into a long depression. Recently, he didn’t even want to talk to his father. And so, an idea came to Ivan Petrovich’s mind that he needed to get his son married…
