“And I’m sorry too,” Megan replied. “I shouldn’t have run away. But that test… it hurt. I won’t lie, money matters, but trust matters more. Do you think we can fix this?”
“We have to. No more secrets, no more tests. We’re a team now.”
“Agreed.”
“Well, you two look like you’ve worked it out,” a familiar voice said from the parking lot.
Megan turned and gasped. “Dad? Mom? What are you doing here? Dad, you should be resting!”
Her father was leaning on a cane, but he looked better than he had in months.
“I’m fine, honey. Martha called us. She sent a car. She said it was important.” He smiled at David. “So, are we setting a new date? Or are you two going to run laps around the parking lot first?”
